In the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan, Congress leaders and party workers staged a protest march towards the BJP headquarters, expressing their concerns about the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak.
The demonstration started from the Congress state office and was led by the senior Congress leaders, including Congres president at the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, Govind Singh Dotasra. Former Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully and other MLAs, MPs participated in the protest.
Police fired water cannons to disperse protesters after tensions flared as the march went on, near the BJP office. In the protest, Dotasra had charged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of earlier raising the issue of irregularities faced by applicants in the NEET examination process in Parliament. He reaffirmed the apprehensions of paper leaks affecting the future of the students and called for accountability.
Tikaram Jully also lashed out at the central government and demanded the resignation of its Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying that he had failed to take a note of the repeated controversies over examinations. He stated the issue was a part of a larger trend of systemic neglect.
The protest is happening in the backdrop of rising political tensions with regard to NEET UG 2026 as a coordinated paper leakage had been alleged in the examination held at several centres across India. Since then, authorities have tightened their security for the re-examination set for June 21, and are looking into a switch to a computer examination system in the future.
