India on Thursday called for uninterrupted passage through the strait of Hormuz, during the BRICS foreign ministers summit.

As US Iran war is disrupting global markets, India hosts the vital summit of the emerging economies, BRICS with top diplomats and foreign ministers attending the meeting.

On Thursday, during the BRICS foreign affairs meeting, India has reiterated the importance of unhindered transportation along the Strait of Hormuz.

During the BRICS foreign affairs meeting on Thursday, Indian Foreign Minister has reaffirmed the importance of freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, amid rising tensions in the Middle East after the US-Israel conflict with Iran.

During the summit Jaishankar highlighted that the conflict in Middle East demands attention of the world community as the disruptions in Hormuz are threatening maritime traffic along with disrupting the global energy market

Foreign Ministers of member and partner countries of BRICS attended the meeting, chaired by India. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was also present at the event. In his address, the Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar stated that the Middle East situation was growing a lot unstable and the threat to maritime traffic and disruptions to energy infrastructure were all very urgent.
